Optimal free parameters in orthonormal approximations

چکیده
We consider orthonormal expansions where the basis functions are governed by some free parameters. If the basis functions adhere to a certain differential or difference equation, then an expression can be given for a specific enforced convergence rate criterion as well as an upper bound for the quadratic truncation error. This expression is a function of the free parameters and some simple signal measurements. Restrictions on the differential or difference equation that make this possible are given. Minimization of either the upper bound or the enforced convergence criterion as a function of the free parameters yields the same optimal parameters, which are of a simple form. This method is applied to several continuous-time and discrete-time orthonormal expansions that are all related to classical orthogonal polynomials.

Today, companies need to make use of appropriate patterns such as supply chain management system to gain and preserve a position in competitive world-wide market. Supply chain is a large scaled network consists of suppliers, manufacturers, warehouses, retailers and final customers which are in coordination with each other in order to transform products from raw materials into finished goods wit...
متن کاملChoice of free parameters in expansions of discrete-time Volterra models using Kautz functions
The present paper involves the approximation of nonlinear systems using Wiener/Volterra models with Kautz orthonormal functions. It focuses on the problem of selecting the free complex pole which characterizes these functions. The problem is solved by minimizing an upper bound of the error arising from the truncated approximation of Volterra kernels using Kautz functions. An analytical solution...
متن کاملDesign of M-band Optimal Orthonormal Wavelet of Compact Support for Signal De-noising by Using the Principle of Complexity Regularization
A two stage algorithm is presented in this paper to design optimal M-band orthonormal wavelets of compact support for signal de-noising. A cost function d(.,.). suitable for the signal de-noising, is minimized to select the optimal basis. A parameterized representation of wavelet bases is used to constrain the values and reduce the number of independent parameters with the freedom of choice of ...
